Elton John AIDS Foundation

Hello Supporter,

The Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) is benefiting from a portion of the sales of the new book One Day in the Life of Jake Shears, recently released on February 14, 2011. Jake Shears is the lead singer for the American music group Scissor Sisters and a long-time supporter of EJAF and friend of Sir Elton John. I am pleased to announce that Jake Shears and photographer Tim Hailand will be participating in two book signing events: Sunday, March 27, 2011, 4:30-6:00 PM, at Bookmarc in Los Angeles, CA (click here for LA PDF invitation); and Friday, April 8, 2001, 2:00-3:00 PM, at Outwrite Bookstore in Atlanta, GA (click here for Atlanta PDF invitation).

The book follows a day in the singer’s life, June 22, 2010, through black and white and color photographs, including shots from a BBC radio session; lunch with composer Nico Muhly, Akiko, and Jonathan Pierce of The Drums; trying on new stage costumes designed by Gareth Pugh at Brixton Academy; a sound-check and pre-show chat with producer Stuart Price; and full-color photographs from the first concert of the Scissor Sisters “Night Work” world tour. The book also features accompanying text by Jake Shears himself, an introduction by Elton John, and an afterword by Kylie Minogue.
I do hope you will take advantage of these special book signing opportunities to support EJAF by purchasing this limited edition book, offering a unique look behind the scenes of a musician’s life. One Day in the Life of Jake Shears may be purchased online:
